Smile for the camera
The aim of the photos was to reflect Fairfield in images for the website by showing the caring staff and happy residents during the course of a normal morning.
We recently had a visit from a professional photographer who was at Fairfield to capture some images for our new website. Although he started the shoot in the garden taking photos of the staff, he soon moved inside to take shots of the home and its residents. The photographic ‘models’ were the residents themselves who soon entered into the spirit of the photo shoot.
The aim of the photos was to reflect Fairfield in images for the website by showing the caring staff and happy residents during the course of a normal morning. It was a usual busy day at Fairfield with lots of activities. The hairdresser was visiting that morning and the joy that the weekly visit from Flossy the PAT dog brings was clear to see. The photographer, Ray, was there to snap coffee being served and to chat to all the residents as they read, knitted and enjoyed their hobbies.
Ray also took photos of the chef in action in the kitchen as he chopped fresh vegetables and prepared the lunch. Some of the nicest photos were of the staff as they went about their job of caring for residents, a helping hand here and there, serving a cup of coffee with a smile and helping them to get around.
Asked how he captured the caring and happy ethos of Fairfield in the images Ray replied, “By taking very natural shots rather than posing the models. The residents and staff were all great to work with. It was lovely to see the expressions on the faces of residents as well as the staff. I was really impressed by the wonderful calm, mutual understanding that exists between them.”
He then sat down with some of the residents and talked a bit about photography, showing them his camera. A few had a go at taking their own photos using his rather large professional camera with its long lens. The camera was rather too heavy for most to hold without wobbling, but the pleasure that they all had in chatting with Ray about the photos was evident.
