New Fairfield Open Day
We open the doors of our brand new care home for the first time
The first ever Open Day to be held at the new Fairfield residential care home was hailed a huge success. The doors to the brand new home on the Banbury Road were open on Saturday 21 April for visitors to have a first glimpse of the new building.
There was a steady flow of visitors throughout the day from neighbours and locals to potential residents and their families as well as people who have just been watching the building go up as they pass by each day.
John Cole, chair of Fairfield trustees said, “We were delighted with the number of people who attended our Open Day on Saturday to have a look around the new building. This is an important new facility for elderly people in North Oxford and Summertown and we were thrilled with everyone’s reactions to the new Fairfield.”
Debbie Hayes, manager of new Fairfield added, “We have put so much work in making sure that the new home not only fits people’s care needs, but has a warm, intimate homely feel and the consensus amongst visitors to the open day was that we have managed to achieve that. We are all very much looking forward to moving in in a few weeks time.”

The new building has 40 en-suite bedrooms, some of which are suitable for couples and some of which have extra access bathrooms. Thanks to the floor to ceiling windows, the central hub is light and bright with a library and IP suite as well as a wellness room for visiting practitioners. The dining room has patio doors out to a courtyard as well as double doors into the lounge.
The building was designed by Oxford Architects Practice and built by Kingerlee with project management by Bidwells. It is due to open in early July, once the CQC inspection has taken place.
Debbie adds, “The demand for reserving rooms at the Open Day was very encouraging and potential residents are being encouraged to register their interest for the remaining bedrooms.”
