Services to help us live well

Helping older people to live independently at home

Living Well in Older Age exhibition at Fairfield

Fairfield recently hosted an exhibition of local Oxford providers of services that can help us all to live well in older age. The exhibitors were keen to share their passion for their services that help people to live healthily and happily for longer in their own home.

People who live independently at home need a bit of support from time to time whether it is adapting the home for their changing needs and help with mobility and falls prevention to making sure they have a will, their paperwork is in order and everything in place financially.

The Living Well in Older Age event launched Fairfield’s Elderly Peoples Information Centre or EPIC. Given our experience of helping elderly people, Fairfield has set up EPIC, which covers everything to do with growing old. EPIC has leaflets and information about everything from health and wellbeing to financial and legal advice, to help people continue to live the life they want to live into older age. Local North Oxford and Summertown residents are welcome to pop in and use the hub anytime.

Many of the important topics for living well in older age were featured:

  • Wellbeing – moving better and keeping fit
  • Nutrition – eating a healthy diet
  • Mobility – aids to help us get around
  • Legal – wills and lasting powers of attorney
  • Financial – planning for care home fees
  • Social – meeting people and staying active
  • Home – administrative help at home

It was a great opportunity for us to meet with like-minded organisations in North Oxford
