Birthday cake, candles and fizz as we party with families and friends
How time flies! We celebrated the 1st birthday in our beautiful new home on Wednesday 3rdJuly with a party complete with a birthday cake and candle.
Residents, their families and friends together with the staff and their families, friends of Fairfield and the trustees gathered on a wonderful sunny summers evening for a garden party. Sitting in the shade in the garden we were entertained by a string quartet as we drank fizz and wine and ate delicious finger foods made by our chef and the kitchen team.
John Cole, chair of trustees, made a short speech to mark the occasion. He talked about all the hard work that has gone into making new Fairfield such a successful home and how lovely it is to see so many new residents enjoying all that it has to offer. He also thanked all the staff for being so wonderful, which received loud cheer and a round of applause.
Along with Debbie Hayes, Registered Manager, John then cut the cake as the room erupted into a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday, accompanied by the string quartet. Debbie said that she had no idea where the year had gone but that everyone felt settled and happy in the new home.
For over 70 years Fairfield was located in a Victorian building on the Banbury Road in North Oxford. On 3 July 2018 we moved into a brand new purpose built home constructed in the garden of the original Fairfield. With 38 en suite bedrooms and large communal areas including a lounge, dining room, activities room and a central hub area, the new building was designed to our specifications. The new Fairfield has large floor to ceiling windows which bring the outside in and enable the residents to enjoy views over the expansive gardens. Representatives from the architects, Oxford Architects Practice, and Bidwells, who were the project managers, were there to join in the birthday celebrations.
Fairfield is owned by a registered charitable company overseen by a Board of Trustees. We provide residential care, bookable flexible respite care and day care.
