Birds eye view of new Fairfield

Amazing views of the new Fairfield home from the crane

Spring is in the air, the garden here at Fairfield is looking beautiful and we have a new bird in it – a rather large crane! Not of the feathered variety but a builder’s crane that towers high over the construction site for our new Fairfield care home.

The building site is at the bottom of our garden but we are still able to get out into the garden to enjoy the beautiful spring flowers, trees and shrubs. On sunny days, it is lovely to sit on the benches and enjoy the fragrant shrubs, listen to the birds singing and smell the fresh air.

At the same time we can get a little closer to seeing our new home as it comes out of the ground and starts to look more like a building. We are getting used to seeing huge trucks arriving full of gravel and concrete that they dump before re-appearing later with yet another load; to watching builders clad in high viz jackets and hard hats move around the site; diggers crunching over the ground; the huge crane manoeuvring joists into position; people measuring, looking at clip boards and talking – it certainly makes interesting viewing and there is always something for residents to watch.

Residents can still enjoy the garden whilst the new Fairfield is being built.

Alison Parry, Manager

The new Fairfield residential care home will be a state-of-the-art purpose built building designed to our specifications to maximise the physical benefits of the site and for excellence of care. The new home will accommodate 38 residents in en-suite rooms with communal areas that have views over much of the existing garden, including a 50-year-old rose garden which is being retained along with many of the existing mature trees.

Alison Parry, Fairfield manager said, “Although the building work is taking place right at the end of our garden, the residents are delighted that they can still enjoy being outdoors in the remaining garden. We continue to maintain the existing grass and shrubs so that residents can sit and chat whilst enjoying the flowers.” Residents can also watch progress of the building from the windows of the original Fairfield home and from the conservatory.

The new Fairfield Residential Home is due for completion in mid 2018 and will provide a purpose built home that will continue to offer the current Fairfield ethos and philosophy of delivering excellence of care, whilst providing enriched living through offering the very best facilities and encouraging independence and mobility.
