Building has started!

We are delighted that the new building for Fairfield home has started and is due for completion early 2018.

Preparation for double building project gets underway

Two of Oxford’s heritage establishments have commenced neighbouring building projects today (Wednesday 1st March 2016). Fairfield Residential Home, established in 1947 and University College (Univ), the oldest college in Oxford, are sharing a new access track to their adjacent building sites in North Oxford.

The first stage of the building works commenced with the demolition of part of Fairfield’s existing brick wall along the Banbury Road to create a new site access. This access track will service the construction sites for both the new Fairfield building and University College’s new accommodation block, passing down the side of a car park to the back of the site.

Planning permission for the new Fairfield was granted in October and will see the construction of a brand new purpose built residential care home, for completion in 2017. Univ is building a new graduate accommodation block and, once the new Fairfield is open, will convert the existing Victorian residential home building into additional student accommodation.
